These are items I have found useful during labor and for the hospital stay:
Over night maternity pads *
Old undies to hold pads * (Hospital has nifty mesh undies)
Diapers, baby wipes, diaper ointment *
Ibuprofen or other pain reliever *
1-2 quart plastic pitcher for ice *
* Hospital will provide these items, but if you are self pay, you can save money by bringing your own supplies
Container for mom to throw up in on way to hospital! (This DOES happen!)
Hard candy to suck, no red ones (peppermints are good to use)
Honey (for quick energy for Mom)
Light colored Gatorade or other sport drink
Music you relax to and CD player or Ipod, etc
Your favorite pillow (s) with non white slips
Focal point item, if you practiced with one
Rice sock or other reheatable compress
Bathrobe and slippers (washable slippers are good, in case you step in wet stuff, which does happen!!)
Socks for Mom’s feet (extra pairs in case they get wet)

Jacket for Dad (laboring Moms like cold rooms)
Toiletry items
Lip ointment
List of phone numbers
Snacks/drinks for Dad during labor
Massage tools and lotion you like
2-3 Nursing gowns (or you can wear adorable hospital gowns)
Nursing bras
Hair ties
Breast pads, if you use them
Clothes for Mom to wear home, loose fitting
Clothes to take baby home in, blankets
Car seat MUST HAVE
Goldenseal powder for belly button care
Cell phone charger
Camera, extra batteries, film if needed
Camcorder
Baby book for footprints
“Boppy” is just an extra item and you won’t really need it until you get home (and even then it is still optional).
